Beach Walks near Dingle - LilyMais Top 5

Updated: May 25

We have lived in Baile na nGall – north west of Dingle town – for the past 5-years and like to think that our opinion as regards the Top 5 Beach Walks near Dingle is relatively unbiased! We are both occasional walkers (as against hard-core hill walkers), so our recommended beach walks are for anyone of average fitness. With each of our chosen walks, parking is available adjacent to the beach, allowing you to decide on the duration of your walk. Enjoy!

Muiríoch Beach (#1 on map)

Muiríoch is our default walking beach! With car parking at the northern end, this relaxed stroll takes about 60-minutes end-to-end. The beach is predominantly sand, though can become quite stony after winter storms. Best walked at all times expect high-tide. Brilliant view of The Three Sisters to the west and Mount Brandon to the east. Usually very quiet. A great beach for sunsets if the weather allows!

Ventry Beach (#2 on map)

Car parking (and bathrooms) at northern end, very relaxed walk with option of refreshments at Quinns Pub in the village afterwards. Or get yourself a tasty take-out salad from the local shop (Siopa Uí Lúing) and have yourself a picnic! Great views across Dingle Bay to the Iveragh Peninsula. Very popular swimming beach and can be busy during summer.

Beal Bán (#3 on map)

Car parking at south eastern end (the roadway down is quite narrow, so "take her handy" as they say!). Very relaxed walk with spectacular views of The Three Sisters, Mount Brandon and Ceann Sibéal (of Star Wars fame). Can be walked at all times, and has foot-bridges to cross two streams. Beautiful soft sand, usually very quiet. Sunrises over Mount Brandon can be spectacular!

Inch Beach (#4 on map)

Car parking (and bathrooms) at northern end (please don’t park on the beach, but if you must, then be very aware of tides). Inch is regarded as one of Irelands finest and an end-to-end walk can take 2-hours plus. Spectacular views of the MacGillycuddy Reeks to the south and Dingle Bay to the north. Can be very busy during summer months.

Gowlane Beach (#5 on map)

One of the most beautiful beaches in the country with spectacular views of Mount Brandon to the west and eastwards towards the Maharees. Soft, sandy with crashing waves (usually). Car-parking is limited (don’t drive onto beach, you will regret it!), and you have the option to walk west towards Fermoyle or east towards Stradbally. Usually quiet.
